Over the past 4 days we have looked at THE JOURNEY.
We took time and looked at 3 aspects or areas, at one time or another, most of us have been through:
- THE DESERT
- THE VALLEY
- THE MOUNTAIN TOP
For each of these, there is a path or TRAIL you will travel on.
I mentioned yesterday, the CHEERLEADER and I went on a hike up a mountain trail in Oregon recently (the pic above was right at the starting point for us).
For us, there was only one way in....one way to start.
Not too long after we started, we came to a fallen tree that was right across the path. This fallen tree was blocking our TRAIL. It was blocking the PATH that we in front of us.
We had a choice:
- Turn around and our hike would be done right as it got started
- Figure a way over the fallen tree and continue our journey
For LIFE, you might have multiple TRAILS to walk down, but very few will actually get you to where you need to go.
Jesus said, in Matthew 7:14, "But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it."
Why do you think that is?
The previous verse, in Matthew said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for WIDE is the gate and BROAD is the way that leads to destruction, and there are MANY who go in by it."
Why do you think that is?
Remember the Vince Lombardi quote from yesterday's THE MOUNTAIN TOP post, "The man at the top of the mountain didn't fall there"? It's much harder to go down the path less traveled.
So as you are on your BEST YEAR YET journey, be intentional to which TRAIL you will choose. And if you decide to choose the TRAIL less traveled, be assured, it will be more difficult, but the outcome will be great.
