THE MOUNTAIN TOP

"The man at the top of the mountain didn't fall there!"  Vince Lombardi

THE MOUNTAIN TOP.

Triumphs don't come without hard work.

The last few days, here in the BEST YEAR YET blog, we've been discussing THE JOURNEY in each of our lives.

We looked at
  • THE DESERT - that place of what looks like barrenness, struggle, thirst with no relief in sight.  How do we deal with THE DESSET
  • THE VALLEY - this is a place of joy, not of despair.  It is ok to be here, but always look to better yourself
So today, we are finishing up THE JOURNEY topic with THE MOUNTAIN TOP.

Recently, I had an opportunity to go on a hike, up a mountain trail.  It ended up being right around 5 miles.  Now, to be clear, this was not a "14er" in Colorado, but a good hike up elevation, on a trail, in Oregon.

I thought about the Vince Lombardi quote above.  The CHEERLEADER and I got to see some incredible views on this hike, that we wouldn't have seen if we would have stayed in THE VALLEY.  BUT....it was WORK.

As we mentioned in yesterday's post, I think some look up to THE MOUNTAIN TOP and have such a desire to be there, that they miss out on all the good in THE VALLEY.  I think it's cool to have a desire for better...BUT, are you willing to put in the WORK to get there.

In my own JOURNEY, I have had MOUTAIN TOP experiences.

I don't live on the MOUNTAIN TOP all the time.

I live in THE VALLEY that has its ups and downs.

At times I have had experiences in MY JOURNEY where I find myself in THE DESERT.

BUT, I like THE MOUNTAIN TOP.

THE MOUNTAIN TOP has great things about it.

There are opportunities that can only be found on THE MOUNTAIN TOP.  There are successes that you can only get on THE MOUNTAIN TOP. There are views that you can only get by being on THE MOUNTAIN TOP.

But, the "air" is thin on THE MOUNTAIN TOP which means you have to work harder to be there.

So when we look at the different areas of your BEST YEAR YET:
  • THE DESERT
  • THE VALLEY
  • THE MOUNTAIN TOP
What area(s) do you find yourself in?
What area(s) do you need help in?
In all of these areas, what did you learn?

Remember, each area has its benefits and its challenges.  The key is how you choose to respond in any given circumstance.

So as you go through your BEST YEAR YET, remember that it's all about THE JOURNEY!
