F IS FOR...

"Cancer is Fearful!"

WOW....no truer words can be spoken or written.

After I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in May of 2016, I was ready, THAT DAY, to ATTACK it!

As a competitor, an athlete (I use that loosely these days!), husband, father and friend, I wasn't ready to "end my tour!"

"LET'S GO!" was my mantra.

But, I had to wait.

There were more tests to be done.

Surgery and treatment to be scheduled.

Hurry up and WAIT.

"Wait patiently for the LORD.  Be brave and courageous.  Yes, wait patiently for the LORD." Psalms 27:14 [NLT]

Somewhere between May and August, there was a day.

I will never forget that day.

FEAR tried to grab a hold of me.

I remember sitting on the couch, melting into the arms of my CHEERLEADER and saying to her, "Just tell me that it's going to be OK."  I needed to hear her voice tell me.

Cancer CAN be fearful....but I love the perspective of this St. Jude patient when they followed up that first sentence with:

"...but when you have:"

  • FANTASTIC Doctors
  • FABULOUS Nurses
  • FUN Child Life Specialists
  • FAMILY, FRIENDS and FAITH in GOD.....YOU CAN
  • FACE and overcome ANYTHING!
I totally agree!
