WHERE IN THE WORLD

Where are you today....tonight?

Is your world upright or upside down?

So many people have a difficult time, this time of year.

Why?

For some who don't have much, seeing all the "commercialism" that takes place around Christmas reminds them of what they don't have.

Many can be totally alone on Christmas.  Those are called "Christmas orphans" and it can be by choice or by circumstance.

According to the National Institute of Health, Christmas is the time of year many experience sustained "blues" and even depression.  Hospitals and law enforcement report higher instances that call for their attention.

For others, as the year comes to a close, realize they didn't come near to hitting their unrealistic expectations that they had on January 1st.  They do excessive self-reflection and they don't like what is looking back at them.

Here are a few tips to get you through the next 4 weeks, SUCCESSFULLY (We'll look at goals for 2018 in another post coming up):

  • First, if you are depressed, seek help.  Depression is real and there is no shame in asking for help.
  • Set limits on your gift spending.  If you don't have it, don't charge it.  Find other ways to be creative with what you can do for your loved ones.
  • Don't accept or believe what the media shows as a "perfect" Christmas season.  We are all flawed humans who do flawed things.  We are all "perfectly imperfect!"
  • Avoid beating yourself up because you didn't lose the weight or drop the bad habit or didn't get asked to the dance.  Look at all the good that you have to offer and GIVE THANKS FOR LIFE!
  • Focus all your thoughts on the good thing about Christmas - the opportunity to engage in loving kindness, generosity of spirit, and gratitude for others in your life.
Back to our title and the picture......WHERE IN THE WORLD are you?

"Our lives are in His hands, and He keeps our feet from stumbling."
Psalms 66:9 [NLT]

YOU are in HIS hands...He's got you!

MAKE it a great Christmas season!
