SUCCESS

suc·cess
səkˈses/
  1. the accomplishment of an aim or purpose

To me:
  • SUCCESS is not about money...although money can accompany SUCCESS
  • SUCCESS is not about awards..although awards can accompany SUCCESS
  • SUCCESS is not about being recognized...although being recognized can accompany SUCCESS
As the definition states, "SUCCESS is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose."

SUCCESS is about READY ~ AIM ~ FIRE!

READY - Have a plan.  If you truly want to be SUCCESSFUL in whatever endeavor you are going after, MAKE A PLAN...a well thought out plan.

AIM - To AIM means "to point or direct at a target."  It means, "to have the intention of achieving."

FIRE - Execute...Start...put to action your plan and intention.

SUCCESS is NOT, READY ~ FIRE ~ AIM!

I have seen many who have taken on the latter approach and they might have a win here and there, but their overall SUCCESS is hindered.

If you don't know what your "intention of achieving" or what the target is, how will you know if you hit it?

A number of years ago I saw a 4-paneled comic strip:
  • In the first panel, the character had a bow and arrow and had the bow pulled back, ready to shoot.
  • The second panel only showed the arrow going up.
  • The third panel only had the arrow going down.
  • The forth and final panel had the arrow in the ground with our character from the first panel painting a "bullseye" where the arrow landed.
I saw that and thought, "So many people set their goals that way.  They just shoot into the wind hoping for a good result."
  • No specific plan
  • No measurable, controllable actions
  • Sporadic exection
  • Great intentions....but intentions alone don't get the accomplishment of purpose
If you miss, you know it.

If you hit it, you know it.

But you have to know what the target is and what it looks like.

So, as we take out 2017 strong and enter into 2018, remember, it's READY ~ AIM ~ FIRE!
