BUMP AHEAD

Earlier today, the CHEERLEADER and I were coming back home from being out.

As we were driving through one neighborhood to get to ours, there were a series of speed bumps in the road.

There were caution signs as well as "BUMP" painted on the street, well in front of the speed bump, so that you knew the BUMPS were coming.

I thought, "boy, it would be nice to have a warning before the BUMPS of life come at you!"

Isn't it true that many times the "BUMPS" we encounter along the way seem to just happen upon us?

Sometimes there are "signs" but we blow right by them and still end up "bottoming out" when we hit the BUMPS.

When "driving" through life, how can we know when we might encounter the BUMP AHEAD?

  • Awareness
    • Really, self-awareness.  Keep an eye on your life; your health, eating habits, stress levels.  Also on your relationships...which leads to the next tip:
  • Communication
    • In the past (and admittedly even sometimes today) I had a "I GOT IT" mentality...I keep things internal and not let those around me know what I'm going through.
    • Communication is such a key component in so many of life's adventures.  You don't have to go through it alone.
  • SLOW DOWN
    • Even if you do encounter the BUMP AHEAD, if you are not rushing through life, you can take them on, with the proper speed, and get over them without any damage.
The best is to avoid them....but like the drive through one neighborhood to get to another, you will, more times than not, encounter the BUMP AHEAD.  It's how you choose to go over them that will make the difference between scraping the bottom or going over them safely.

YOUR CHOICE.

BUMP AHEAD.
