"How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog - it's here a little while, then it's gone." James 4:14 (NLT)
The Cheerleader's Grandma, on her mother's side, lived to be 88 years young.
Edith was her name, but we affectionately called here Mimi.
Mimi was what the Cheerleader called her when she learned to talk, and as the oldest grandchild on both sides, she got to name her grandparents.
Mimi (Edith) Vaughan "graduated" into Heaven in November of 2003.
The last couple weeks of Mimi's life, she was in and out of 2003. When she wasn't in 2003, she could be "found" in 1933 or somewhere near there. She was spinning tales of her time as a young girl growing up, with precise, vivid memory. At one point, our oldest, who was 15 at the time, was in the hospital room and Mimi mistook him for her a boyfriend, 70 years earlier.
But there were times when she was "with us" in 2003. One such time, she and the Cheerleader were talking and Mimi made this observation and said, "boy, it sure went fast."
88.....and it went fast!
No matter how long or short we live on this earth, it, as the verse in James above tells us, "...is like the morning fog - it's here a little while, then it's gone." It is brief compared to eternity.
NEVER MISS A MOMENT.
A couple of months ago, we hit on the "moments so dear" that we have that make up our BEST YEAR YET. It is a recurring topic or theme, I think, in part, because of how relevant it is and crucial to our BEST YEAR YET. Whether it is a sunrise; sunset; making memories over holidays or just taking the dog for a walk....each of these play an integral role in our lives. Don't let them pass you by.
There will be times that moments happen and times when YOU make the moments happen.
Don't pass up a great opportunity to make a MOMENT happen.
Do it now. Sometimes "later" becomes "never."
NEVER MISS A MOMENT!
