MADE OF WONDERFUL

The Cheerleader and I were talking earlier about REGRETS.  A couple of days ago, we talked about "LIVING WITHOUT REGRETS" in our lives.  When she and I were talking about it today, I had an additional thought about the subject of REGRET.

So many times, we'll tag "NO REGRET" with things that we didn't do, like dreams; visions; goals; etc.  Or we liken the "REGRETS" with things we DID do that we're not real proud of (c'mon, how many are happy that YouTube, Facebook and other social media outlets were not available when we were growing up?  Can I get an AMEN?!).

What I was thinking about ties back to the "REGRET" subject, but also to one that we discussed a few weeks about about not letting the "moments so dear" pass us up, but realize we have days of IMPACT on others lives that we are unaware of.

Do you remember the story of George Bailey from "It's a Wonderful Life?"  The movie chronicles George's life as he constantly is given up HIS dream to help others.  What seems to be the last straw comes on Christmas Eve, 1945, when through the fumbling of George's Uncle Billy, $8,000 dollars (approximately $100,000 in today's dollars) are misplaced, and George doesn't know what to do.  So he's thinking about taking his own life, coming to the conclusion that it would be better if he would have never been born.  I won't go through the whole story (you should watch it, even if you have seen it on the loop on TBS each Christmas season!)...but have YOU ever felt this same way?

What about the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus?"  Do you feel like Mr. Holland....set out to write the GREAT AMERICAN MUSICAL, but taking on this "teaching job" for just a couple of years while you write your "music?"

You might not be looking at writing a great piece of music, or have dreams to travel the world and such...but you have dreams, in your estimation, that go unrealized.

BUT....what about the impact you are making on the lives of those around you?  YOU ARE MADE OF WONDERFUL, and what you have to offer is just what someone else needs.  You might not realize it, but you are impacting lives everyday.  Maybe it's your smile, or how your integrity around the water cooler is being displayed.  Maybe it's how you treat your spouse, or raise your kids, or sing in the choir...thinking you are invisible or unnoticed, while all the time someone is watching and you are a positive influence in their life.

The "WONDERFUL LIFE" you live....your "OPUS" is ALL the lives you touch!  So as you continue on in your BEST YEAR YET, remember that you are MADE OF WONDERFUL and you are making a HUGE difference in someone's life, RIGHT NOW!

  1. I most grateful to you, dear Brother, for reminding me of the many lives I've touched through the years....I have NO REGRETS for the life I've lived thus far as well as the life I am living NOW. Another BINGO blog post.
