com·mu·ni·ty
kəˈmyo͞onədē/
- a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
Like many, I woke up today hearing about a tragedy that happened in our Country.
A senseless act that took the lives of the innocent and wounded many others.
Also, I want to thank the LV Police, first responders, and any one who risked their lives for White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, men, women, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Conservatives, Liberals, Catholic, Protestant, Jews, etc.
COMMUNITY.
We might not always agree, but showing up in times of tragedy is what matters.
Whether it is in an outdoor concert venue, a gay club, a softball field, an office high rise, an elementary school, the finish line of a marathon or anywhere else in-between, how about we all act as a COMMUNITY.....ALL the time and not just in the face of terrorism or tragedy?
When I first set out today to write this BEST YEAR YET blog about COMMUNITY, I wanted to share about all the good that comes from being with like minded people. As the definition above says, "...sharing common attitudes, interests and goals."
Common decency and heroism was shown last night by total strangers. Some who just the day before, might not agree with those they were helping or those who needed help.
How about we live the GOLDEN RULE, "Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you....." (Matthew 7:12 NLT)
Here's my challenge to you: Do something good and decent for others, everyday. Something that they can't repay you for.
Let's truly be a COMMUNITY.....together!
