50 WORDS TELLS A STORY

Most everyone reading today's BEST YEAR YET blog can tell where this picture is from.

Who would like to guess?

Since this interaction isn't in real time, I will believe that someone hit their buzzer and guessed, "What is Green Eggs and Ham?"

The classic book by Dr. Seuss.

Here's a fun fact for you:
The book, "Green Eggs and Ham" came about as a bet between Dr. Seuss (Theodor Geisel) and his publisher, that he (Seuss) couldn't write a story using fewer words than what he did for "Cat in the Hat" (236 words).

Seuss won!  He did it in 50 words.

50 WORDS!

I've been listening to podcasts as well as reading emails and blogs by authors that talk about writing books.  A typical book would have from 30,000 to 50,000 words in it.

Sticking with a 30,000 word book, published, you would have to submit 50,000 to 60,000 words before editing.

He did it in 50 WORDS!

Can you tell YOUR story in 50 WORDS or is your life a 30,000 word or better novel?

Don't look to complicate yourself in 2018.  Look to simplify.

Now, I'm not saying that your life isn't worth 30,000 words.

I'm saying don't try to fill your life with things that take away from YOUR STORY, just to fill pages.

Oh, and those 50 WORDS (if you were wondering):
a, am, and, anywhere, are, be, boat, box, car, could, dark, do, eat, eggs, fox, goat, good, green, ham, here, house, I, if, in, let, like, may, me, mouse, not, on, or, rain, Sam, say, see, so, thank, that, the, them, there, they, train, tree, try, will, with, would, you

"I do so like Green Eggs and Ham! Thank you! Thank you, Sam-I-am!"
