DOWN THE STREAM

BEST YEAR YET.

Sometimes we read that and wonder, "really?"

Let's sing a little song together to help us get out of our funk.  How about a song you learned in kindergarten, "Row, Row, Row Your Boat."

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream.
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.

We can even get creative and sing it in the round.

Did you know that this song that you learned at such an early age is really a metaphor for LIFE?

Let's break it down:

"YOUR BOAT" signifies your life and YOU are the "oarsman" rowing down the river or stream of time.  Notice it's not a short time your are rowing, but you are row, row, rowing, meaning you are constantly working on your life, for a long time.

Notice it says, "Gently down the stream...."  It didn't say, "violently UP the stream" nor does it say to row angrily, grudgingly or while you are upset.  Don't go too fast that you burn out or that you miss something.  Go down the stream, in a place of peace and tranquility.  Our lives are not to be one of stress.  The Apostle Paul, wrote, in his letter to the Philippian church, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done." (Phil. 4:6 NLT)

As we are not rowing for a short time, in the same manner, we are to go through this journey being happy, full of joy and passionate about our life...."Merrily...merrily...merrily...merrily..." We should relax, be happy and enjoy the ride as "...Life is but a dream."

Our life is ours.  We can control it (remember again, "my response is my responsibility!")...no one can "row" our boat for us.  WE have the ability to make our lives "DREAM LIKE" or the opposite.  It's up to us.  WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE?

So what would you rather have and do in your BEST YEAR YET, be "UP a creek...without a paddle?" Or, "Row, row, row your boat, gently DOWN the stream.  Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily, LIFE is but a DREAM?"

HAPPY ROWING!
