Today, June 20, 2017, is the longest day of the year. OK....every day is 24 hours, but this is the one with the most daylight.
This is one of my favorite days of the year. Why?
I like doing things outside. Thing that are better done in the light:
- Running
- Golfing
- Taking the dog for a walk
My problem, I usually don't maximize this day.
I know it happens about the same time each year.
But beginning tomorrow, it's all downhill from here.
It's a little at a time, but the days begin (or the daylight begins) to get shorter.
I went for a run this morning, 6:00am, wore my sunglasses!
I'm heading to a baseball game that starts at 6:00pm, I will still be wearing my sunglasses.
I LOVE THE LONGEST DAY!
But what about every other day? Remember, my response is my responsibility. Why do I let the sunlight or lack of sunlight determine how I will take on the day....the moment?
So here's the challenge to all of us; regardless of the day, be it the longest, the shortest or any day in between, let's embrace the day and MAKE IT COUNT!
Take the opportunity, on this the LONGEST DAY, to do something to MAKE IT COUNT. How?
- Take time to hold the door open for someone
- Smile at a stranger
- See someone lost, give them directions
- Buy a co-worker a cup of coffee, just because
- Hi-five a stranger at the ball game
There are so many things that I know you can think of to do on this the LONGEST DAY of 2017.
So, get out there and "make some hay while the sun is still shining!"
